Lincoln Park / Ft. MileyOcean Beach Pavilion viewed from Great Highway. Seal Rock Hotel at far left. Numerous horse drawn carriages and crowds of people on highway. Built in 1884, it contained a giant ballroom that could hold 2,000 people at a time. The building had bars, restaurants, and a boxing gym that was once used by the first African-American heavyweight champion, Jack Johnson. After many conversions and remodelings, the Pavilion was demolished in 1972.
Sutro HeightsMarine Exchange Lookout at Point Lobos. View taken from right-of-way for Ferries & Cliff House Railroad, which ran below the structure. Lookout was demolished in March 1927. Site is now the location of the USS San Francisco Memorial.
