View north across City Hall Square (name changed to Marshall Square in December, 1902) to Pioneer (James Lick) Monument, which stood in the Square at present corner of Hyde and Grove Streets. City Hall behind, Hall of Records in right background. Stores on north side of Square, Station B Post Office, Petersen & Gantner Undertaker 8 & 10 City Hall Square. Yerba Buena Saloon, 85 City Hall Avenue. Taken prior to March 1900 installation of Spanish-American War prize cannon, where man is standing in this photo, and move of Station B Post Office in February, 1897. In 1993, the monument was moved to the pedestrian mall on Fulton Street between the Asian Art Museum and the new Main Library.

Golden Gate Park Conservatory of Flowers. Statue, 'The Thinker' at left. The statue been at the French Pavilion of the PPIE, then purchased by Alma Speckels, and installed in GGP, unveiled on March 21, 1916. It would be moved to the Legion of Honor when it was completed, in 1924.

Goethe/Schiller Statue, Golden Gate Park, in its original location with little boy (Jefferson Peyser). It was installed with donations from the German community on the west side of the Music Concourse, (current site of the de Young Museum Sculpture Garden) on August 11, 1901. It would be moved to the current east side of the Concourse in the early 1920s.
