1830-1834 Lyon Street at Sacramento Street, SE corner. Victorian era flats with entrances at right, built prior to 1900. What appears to be a storefront with house number 1834 is at the very corner. Image shows it stripped of ornamentation and Transite siding added. This building has since been restored to its historic appearance and house number 1834 no longer exists.

Ruins of Temple Beth Israel in the background. This is fairly soon after the earthquake, initially cooking was required as far as possible from buildings. Later street kitchens were allowed to move to the sidewalk. (JF) This area completely demolished in redevelopment.
